Universal Mind and Essence of Vitality

Herbal and Roots Tonic

The vision behind Essence of Vitality line of products started when Harry James Donkor was trained in herbalism at the mere age of six years old under the guidance of his great-great grandfather, Safohene Mensa (who later died at the age of 136 years old). By the age of eighteen, Harry Donkor had fully mastered the alchemy in herbalism and was initiated by Mensa himself, with Mensa telling his prodigy that he can increse the potency with other herbs to when making the tonics but the key ingredient - Neem, must always remain in it. This marked the starting point in Donkor's herbalism career. After coming to America in 1969, Donkor obtained a career with the United Nations in its headquarters in New York as a publisher in all their departments for the next 25 years. It was not until after his daughter's birth in 1991, after giving her two teaspoons of the tonic right after she was brought home from the hospital, that he realized that he wanted to create a legacy within his family, ran by his family - Essence of Vitality LLC. After leaving the United Nations, Harry Donkor and his family left New York in 1992 and established the company in 1996  and throughout the next 17 years, he has spent his days doing extensive research on different herbs to make the tonics what they are today, using a diversity of different types of herbs from around the world to harmoniously mix them together. Throughout the years, the company has grown with the abundant support of his family, distributors, customers, and most importantly from God himself, to make Essence of Vitality LLC line of products truly one of a kind.

Detoxification

The excretory system is a passive biological system that removes excess and unnecessary materials from the body, so as to help maintain homeostasis and prevent damage. The main organs involved in waste management are the skin, lungs, liver, and kidneys.

Toxic substances are everywhere. The body is not only exposed to toxic chemicals in the environment, but also some toxins are produced in the body through normal body chemical reactions.

How can our bodies cope? This module explains some of the ways that animals and humans combat and eliminate toxic chemicals. The organ systems involved include the lungs, the skin, and the digestive tract, but two organs are especially important: the liver and the kidneys.

We call the process of eliminating toxins, "detoxication" or "detoxification," which is the opposite of "intoxication." Different tissues detoxify in varying ways.

  • Lungs can detoxify by removing gases (gas anesthetics are removed from the body by the lungs). The lungs diffuse gaseous wastes, such as carbon dioxide, from the bloodstream as a normal part of respiration.

  • Skin can detoxify by reducing the penetration of toxic substances (toxins in water don't get in through the skin well; however, toxins in oils do penetrate easily). The skin has sweat glands which secrete a fluid waste called perspiration, or sweat.

  • Digestive System can detoxify by eliminating toxic foods, by either vomiting or diarrhea.

  • Kidneys detoxify by secreting toxins or filtering toxins out of the blood into urine.

  • Liver detoxifies by changing the chemical nature of many toxins. The liver is a vital organ with a wide range of functions, including detoxification, protein synthesis, and production of biochemicals necessary for digestion. The liver has many vital functions, including a role in digestion, protein synthesis, and nutrient and vitamin storage. The liver also plays an important function in the management of body waste. It acts as a detoxification system for the body, processing and neutralizing drugs and hazardous substances. The liver is involved in the breakdown and recycling of red blood cells, including the removal of bilirubin from the body by secreting it into the bile. Additionally, the liver also is involved in the removal of ammonia from the body by converting it to urea, which is then excreted by the kidneys.

Kidney and liver are especially important. They are discussed separately because they work in different ways.
